Cleaning up After Yourself: Tidying Up Your Rental

dirty-apartmentEverybody should want to be a good tenant. Whether you are renting a house or an apartment, whether you get along with your neighbors or not, whether you like your landlord or not, you always want to be a responsible tenant. At the very least, you want to be respectful to any tenants who come after you — so cleaning up your rental property before you move out is really a must.

Besides, cleaning up can help you get your deposit back, so it can pay to be tidy. You should either get a copy of the move in inspection which occurred when you moved in; if you did not do this, your landlord should have an inspection form for moving out, so you know what to clean up.

You can even have your landlord walk through the property, to tell you what should be fixed so you can get your deposit returned.

Cleaning is one thing; repairing is another. If anything is broken or damaged, try your best to repair it.

In particular, make sure both the bathrooms and the kitchen are clean.
